SRINAGAR: Former legislator and senior Congress leader Nizamuddin Bhat filed his nomination papers on Thursday for the Bandipora seat in the upcoming assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.
After addressing a gathering of workers at his official residence, Nizamuddin Bhat arrived at the Mini Secretariat in Bandipora to submit his nomination papers. Bandipora will vote in the third phase of the JK polls on October 1.
Bhat is contesting the election as an alliance candidate of the National Conference and Congress, as the constituency has been allotted to Congress in the seat-sharing agreement.
On Wednesday, Bhat officially joined Congress following deliberations with alliance partners. His move is seen as a significant boost, with the seat being jointly contested by the National Conference and Congress.
Bhat was already considered a strong contender for the Bandipora constituency, with a growing mass following in recent weeks—(KNO).
