State’s Director General Prisons Department, S K Mishra has visited Central Jail Srinagar and stressed for maintaining healthy and hygienic atmosphere in and around the premises, an official spokesman said. He has also stressed the availability of better health care facilities and healthy diet to the prisoners as per the provisions of J&K Jail Manual.
Mishra, officials said, had visited Kashmir’s oldest and the main jail to review the security and management. He has inspected ongoing construction works and issued on spot directions for its completion.
During his visit, Mishra interacted with the Jail inmates as well as staff and inspected various vocational training programs presently going on in the jail. After inspecting the premises, he chaired a joint meeting with Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar, Officer Commanding guarding the outer parameter of the Jail and Medical officer Central Jail Srinagar.
Meanwhile police have arrested Tehreek-e-Hurryiat’s tehsil president Danish Malik at Watapora (Bandipora) along with his three colleagues. Police said he was on the run for two months as he was being searched in case of a number of cases registered against him.
