Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prof Saif-u-Din Soz on Sunday said that Right To Information Act (RTI) Act in the state needs to be strengthened and the suggestions put forth by the state Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) in this regard should be accepted.

While reacting to suggestions put forth by G R Sufi, the state Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) that legislature should take a call to bring the political parties under the purview of Right To Information (RTI) Act, Prof Soz said that personally, he supports the idea. “Personally speaking, what CIC said should be accepted.”

“Mr Sufi’s other suggestions that repealed provisions of RTI Act should be restored, I think should be accepted and this is my personal opinion. His other suggestion that there should be coordination between state information commission and other anti graft bodies like SAC and SVC is also worth to be considered,” Prof Soz who had shown a keen interest in formation of these institutions of probity, accountability and fairness, told KNS.

The PCC president said that the coordination between stat information commission and other anti graft bodies like SAC and SVC is necessary and that should be done in the interest of people.
