SRINAGAR: Minister Satish Sharma on Wednesday announced that an enhanced ration quota and 12 gas cylinders will be given as a New Year gift to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Sharma assured that comprehensive arrangements have been made for the upcoming winter season.
He also reaffirmed that the restoration of statehood remains a top priority, adding that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has personally discussed the matter with senior leaders in New Delhi. “I believe Prime Minister Modi is keen on restoring statehood, and all associated issues will be addressed following its restoration,” he said.
The Minister requested 11 months to address the gaps created over the last 11 years. Addressing concerns about winter preparedness, he noted that while the administration is competent, there are certain shortcomings that need attention.
“Essential supplies have been stockpiled, and all necessary arrangements are in place. However, vigilance is crucial to respond effectively to any challenges that may arise,” Sharma added. (KNO)
