Speaking at the 50th All India Police Science Conference at Rashtriya Raksha University, Shah said the coming decade would see India’s criminal justice system becoming the most scientific and efficient in the world.

“For years, Kashmir, the North-East, and Naxalite regions were considered very disturbed. Significant progress has been made in securing these areas. A comparative analysis of the last 10 years shows a 70 per cent decline in violence,” Shah said.

He further noted that the three new criminal laws, which came into effect on 1 July this year, would ensure faster justice delivery. Under these laws, cases would be resolved within three years of an FIR being filed in any police station, ensuring a more efficient judicial process.

The new laws – Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) – replaced the British-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act, respectively.

Shah highlighted the government’s commitment to transforming India’s justice system while strengthening internal security.
