J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Monday announced the State Photography Awards for the years 2013-14 and 2014-15. The awards carry prize money of Rs 20,000, 15,000, and 10,000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Apart from the three awards in main category, consolation prizes of Rs 1000 each would also be given to the winners.

According to a statement issued to KNS, announcing this, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Aziz Hajini informed that out of multiple entries for the twin events, the Adjudicating Committee recommended conferment of awards in respect of the winners whose names were notified by the JKAACL Monday.

Giving details he said that the first, second and third prize for 2013-14 competition have been bagged respectively by Anand Sharma for his photo titled ‘Sunrise’, Adnan Ali Zahidani for his picture ‘City of Saints’ and Arshad Hussain for his image ‘Innocent companions’.

Besides the three main awards, four consolation prizes of Rs 1000 have also been announced in respect of Ch Sunder, Syed Hamza, Surjeet Singh, and Tumul Magotra.

For 2014-15 competition also the Academy has made the names of winners public. As per details the first three prizes have been bagged by Satish Chalotra for his photo titled ‘Flowers need care’, Amrit Kour for her picture ‘Clowns’ and M. Akram Khan for his image ‘Sharing the experience’.

Along-with the main award winners, names of three consolation prize winners have also been announced who include O.P. Sharma, Pankaj Kumar and Parveen Kumar.

Congratulating the winners the Secretary Academy said that they would be given the prizes at a special function to be held later.
