Addressing a press conference, JKCA member Manzoor Wazir and former Ranji player Parvaiz Ahmad said the team’s consistent performances are changing perceptions about J&K cricket. “Our victories are no longer seen as mere upsets; we have proven our capability,” they said.

Parvaiz noted that while the team has made significant strides, further investment in training facilities and playing conditions is crucial for sustained growth. Reflecting on J&K’s Ranji history, he recalled that the first century for the team was scored in 1979 and emphasized how players are now regularly delivering match-winning performances.

Highlighting concerns over infrastructure, he pointed out the deteriorating conditions of stadiums in the region and stressed the need for modern facilities to nurture talent.

He also praised the team’s professionalism, citing pacer Umar Nazir’s composed reaction after dismissing Rohit Sharma as an example. “Even after defeating Mumbai, the team celebrated with restraint, showing maturity and dignity in both victory and defeat,” he remarked.

Parvaiz further commended the team’s bold selection choices, including the decision to bench key players when necessary. “These moves reflect a shift in mindset. We are moving in the right direction,” he added.
