JKCA President Suspended After 8-0 Apex Council Vote

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has suspended its President, Javid Ahmed Kitab, with immediate effect after the Association’s Apex Council approved a resolution by circulation with an 8-0 majority, according to an official notification issued on Thursday.

The notification states that the resolution was circulated among the eligible members of the Apex Council under Rule 23(i) of the JKCA Constitution for consideration and approval. As the resolution concerned the conduct and suspension of the President, it was not circulated to him.

According to the order, the resolution was instead circulated to the remaining nine members of the Apex Council. Of these, eight members conveyed their approval, while one member did not communicate a decision.

“Accordingly, the Resolution stands duly passed by a majority of 8:0 in terms of Rule 23(i) read with Rule 48(6) of the Constitution of JKCA,” the notification reads.

The order further states: “In terms of the said resolution, Javid Ahmed Kitab, President, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association, has been suspended with immediate effect.”

The notification adds that the resolution will have the same force, validity and effect as if it had been passed at a duly convened meeting of the Apex Council and will be placed before the council’s next meeting for ratification in accordance with the Constitution.

The JKCA has also directed all its officers, employees, affiliated units and functionaries to take all consequential steps for implementing the resolution immediately and strictly in accordance with the Association’s Constitution.
