Continuing its campaign to inculcate the spirit of innovation among the youth of the state, Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) on Tuesday organized two boot camps under the J&K Startup Policy at Anantnag and Shopian districts of south Kashmir.

The spokesman said that camps were part of the boot camp campaign launched by the institute in all the districts of the State under the recently introduced J&K Startup Policy for which JKEDI has been designated as the Nodal Agency.

JKEDI boot camp campaign reaches Anantnag, Shopian

In Anantnag, the boot camp was held at Government Degree College (GDC) and was attended by more than 550 students. Besides students and faculty members of Kashmir University’s South campus, District officers of the Line departments, Cluster Heads from J&K Bank, and LDM Anantnag also attended the program.

At Shopian, the program was held at Government Degree College and Polytechnic College. The program was attended by over 180 students from different streams. Besides, college faculty, officials from the district administration also attended the camp. The program was coordinated by JKEDI District Centre Shopian led by District Nodal Officer, Tasneef Rasool.

District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir was the chief guest on the occasion. During his address, the chief guest spoke on the need for innovation and the importance of start-ups and congratulated JKEDI and GDC Anantnag for organizing the event.

Among the key speakers Dr Sheikh Fayaz, Consultant at JKEDI spoke on innovation and technology and Syed Firdous, Power Manager JKEDI gave a PowerPoint presentation on J&K startup policy.

In his address, Principal GDC Anantnag asserted that said JKEDI and the college will collaborate in future for conducting such events and soon the two institutions will sign an MoU.

The program was coordinated by JKEDI District Centre Anantnag led by District Nodal Officer, Arshid Malik. Azmat Hussain, Assistant Faculty and Mr Shaeeb Khanday, Associate Project Manager were also present on the occasion.

The main objective of the boot camp campaign is to bring mass awareness about the Startup Policy and to inculcate the spirit of innovation among the youth to give a flip to the conversion of innovative ideas into profitable business ventures.
