Muhammad Yasin MalikJKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik Thursday strongly condemned the detention of hundreds of youth besides JKLF activists.

Malik said hundreds of innocent boys and children have been arrested and kept in police stations and interrogation centres across the valley.

“Police is torturing these young boys, abusing their kith and kin, asking for ransom for their release and playing with the future of these people,” Malik said in a statement. “Today, localities of Sher-I -Khas Srinagar like Khanyar, Nowhatta, Gojwara, Hawal, Rajouri Kadal, Nawa Kadal, Bohri Kadal, Safakadal, Noor Bagh and other areas like Batamaloo, HMT Zainakot, Islamabad, Pulwama, Sopore, Kulgam, and Biotangoo Islamabad etc have been turned into a battle field by police and forces where nocturnal raids, arrests, restrictions and other oppressive measures have been unleashed by police at the behest of so-called rulers.”

The JKLF chief said that the “so-called rulers and their police” will get nothing from these “oppressive tactics” and by pushing peaceful youth to the wall.

“These hypocritical and tyrant rulers are actually promoting violence only,” he said.

Malik said that police is abusing its own laws and is prolonging the detention of a political leader Showkat Ahmad Bakshi and hundreds of others.

“If police can use such ill-behaved tactics with a known political leader like Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, what will be their attitude towards innocent young boys and children who are in their custody?”

Malik said international community and human rights institutions like Amnesty International, Asia Watch, United Nations Human Rights Organization and ICRC should fulfill their pledges and play their constructive role to save innocent Kashmiri youth and peaceful political activists from “growing oppressive behaviour of India and its Kashmiri puppets and forces”.
