Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Monday paid glowing tributes to ‘martyrs of Gowkadal’ and the father of senior Hurriyat leader Javid Ahmed Mir on his 21st dead anniversary.

In a statement issued to CNS, JKLF led by Mir states that Ghulam Nabi Mir, the father of JKLF leader Javid Ahmed Mir was detained by Indian Forces on the onset of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir and was subjected to physical and mental torture.

The statement reads that for about six months, late Ghulam Nabi Mir was lying in Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) Srinagar and nobody including his family members did not know about his whereabouts.

“Mir was tortured continuously for about six months in various interrogation centres including JIC and Papa 2. “In these interrogation centres , he got his both arms paralyzed . He was shifted to Central Jail srinagar, where he was kept for another two years. After deterioration of his health, Ghulam Nabi Mir was shifted to SKIMS where he breathed his last on Jan 21,1992,” the statement reads.

  Javid Ahmed Mir while paying rich tributes to his father and martyrs of Gowkadal said that his father was bestowed by Allah with an enviable and respectable death who got himself enrolled in the array of great martyrs of kashmir for which his entire family is proud of.

“January 21, 1990 is a historical day,when hundreds of innocent unarmed kashmiris endured the bullets of Indian armed forces and started peoples revolution for independence of Jammu Kashmir . Kashmiris kept on their peaceful struggle for independence for years but Indian govenment never provided any space to this peaceful struggle and subjected Kashmiri especially youth to worst kind of oppression,” Mir said seeking intervention of International community for resolving long pending Kashmir issue.
