In the second phase of the Jail Bharo Tehreek of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, 30 people courted arrest in city’s Batamaloo area.

According to a front statement, the program was held on Monday at Batamaloo and was led by front vice chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt in which 30 people offered their voluntary arrest.

Those who presented themselves for arrest include Mrs Gowhar Sultana W/o JKLF’s Shaheed Gohar Amin, sister and wife of jailed Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, father of jailed Javed Ahmed Khan, Mohammed Shafi Khan, wife of jailed Shaukat Ahmad Khan and his relatives, the statement said.

Front leaders showkat ahmad Bakshi, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan (pupa Sahib ), Mohammad Ishaq Ganai (President Islamabad District), Abdul Sattar (president of District kulgam), Ghulam Qadir haider , Nazir ahmad rather, Faisal Aslam Mir, Javed Ahmad Malik, Nazir Ahmed Khan, Irshad Ahmad Dar, Bashir Ahmad wagay, Malik Mohammad Ishaq, Maqsood Ahmed nangru, Asadullah Shaikh, Ghulam Hassan Rather, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Mohammad Iqbal Wani, Bashir Ahmad Rather, Riyaz Ahmad Dar, Abdul Hameed Ganai, Ghulam Ahmad Ganai also courted arrest.
Hundreds of people attended the event which included the innocent children of Shaukat Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Yousuf Gilkar of Mahaz I Azadi, International Forum for Justice president Mohammad Ahsan unto, and dozens of women and elders .

While addressing the gathering on the occasion Front leader, advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat said JKLF is offering these voluntary arrests for Kashmiri brethren in jails. “Our innocent people who are languishing in jails are being subjected to severe torture. They are being awarded life sentences and other harsh punishments. JKLF will always stand by the prisoners and will always take these kinds of steps for their benefit”, he said.

Before courting arrest a procession was held from Asthana Chowk to Reka Chowk .people in large numbers participated in the procession. Slogans in favor of Azadi, martyrs and prisoners were raised.

“At Reka Chowk JKLF leaders, workers and other people offered their arrests.”

The Jail Bharo program will continue and its third phase will be held at Saria Bala Srinagar. JKLF leader S M AFZAL will lead the third phase and JKLF leaders and workers will offer their arrest”, the statement added.
