The demand was raised during a General Council meeting of JKMEGA’s Jammu province members, held at the Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu. The meeting witnessed a significant turnout of Mechanical Engineers from various departments.

The session was attended by prominent engineers, including JKMEGA President Er Firdous Ahad Bhat, Chief Engineer of M&HED Er Gagan Jyoti, and Superintending Engineer of the Urban Circle (Jal Shakti Department, Jammu) Er Sunil Gandotra. Several Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and Junior Engineers from R&B, Jal Shakti, and other key departments also participated.

During the meeting, members underscored the need to harness the expertise of Mechanical Engineers to improve service delivery across multiple sectors. They reiterated their longstanding demand for the creation of a dedicated Mechanical Division within R&B in Jammu province and the expansion of the Mechanical Wing in the Jal Shakti Department.

The engineers emphasised that establishing these divisions would not only ensure better utilisation of their technical skills but also enhance efficiency in infrastructure development, water supply management, and other essential public services.

JKMEGA also resolved to strengthen its membership drive and advocate more actively for the rights and recognition of Mechanical Engineers across Jammu and Kashmir.

The association urged the administration to acknowledge and address the fraternity’s long-pending demands, stressing that the proper deployment of Mechanical Engineers is crucial for improving public service efficiency and overall developmental progress in the region.
