SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduate Association (JKMEGA) has welcomed the implementation of administrative decisions for the re-organization of engineering staff in R&B and mechanical engineering.

“JKMEGA is thankful for all the historic decisions of welfare taken in PWD under the present dynamic, dedicated and sincere administrators,” the association said in a statement.

The Association members have appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary  Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary PWD Shalindera Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Jal Shakti Department  M Raju to look towards their following demands:

  1. A full-fledged Mechanical Engineering Health Services Department may be created for common services to all the Hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir Province, in Design/operation of all Mechanized equipments including 02 Plants, lifts, HVAC, Ambulance service, etc. About more than 50% equipment needed in Health Services are Mechanical Gadgets.
  2. Expansion in Divisions / Subdivisions in JAL SHAKTI DEPARTMENT as presently there is on average a single mechanical division in PHE & I&FC for every four (04) districts across UT of J&K. The lack of sufficient divisions/subdivisions has affected public deliverance to a great extent and to meet the challenges expansion in Mechanical Divisions is urgently needed. It is also proposed that in place of outsourcing the dredging process of Jhelum (which is for a limited period), Flood Mechanical Division for South Kashmir and Central Kashmir be created so that continuous and uninterrupted dredging can maintain the bed level of the river to accommodate maximum possible water at any point of time.
  3. The increase and expansion of Mechanical Staff in sister Department’s like JKPDC, JKPCC, H&UDD, DISASTER MANAGEMENT, MVD, Industries, Geology Mining etc is unavoidable for better public services.
