If the choice of her ministers is an indication then Ms Mehbooba Mufti is going to be a different Chief Minister of J&K. On day one she “punished” people for disloyalty.
Insiders in the PDP suggest that two of the four ministers she dropped had exhibited a lot of dissidence in last three months. In fact, one of them had opened his home in such a way that it was being projected as an alternative power centre to the Fairview, PDP insiders said.
The dissident group that was activity for most of the last two months was apparently working on idea to create the government of PDP with BJP if Ms Mufti was unwilling to lead the government. They all were in touch with Union government and, interestingly, BJP was keeping Ms Mufti in the loop.
PDP sources said Ms Mufti would be keep performance as a major barometer for her ministers.
People outside PDP said while the exclusion of key party leaders indicated the mind of the chief executive, part of the decision-making would be clear once the portfolios are announced.
Right now, all eyes are on the portfolios of the ministers. With people guessing around, the former aides of former ministers are keen to know if their ministers are back with same portfolio or not.
The private secretaries, personal assistants are other staff are glued to the rooms of their former bosses to ensure that they work with them again.
There is gloom on the faces of people who worked with former ministers, dropped this time. They left with dejection as they were not expecting ‘big shots’ to be dropped.’ Private Secretary to a former BJP minister immediately left office to join his field posting when he did not figure his former boss in the list.
The staff is taking their belongings back to their previous room which they have left after demise of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on January 7, 2016.
