SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced 2,863 vacancies for Class-IV (MTS) and Sanitation Worker posts across various departments under UT, divisional and district cadres.
The recruitment notification, issued on September 1, invites eligible candidates to apply online from October 5. The last date for submission of applications is November 3, 2026.
Of the total vacancies, 105 are under the UT cadre, 1,990 under the divisional cadres and 768 under district cadres. The divisional allocation includes 1,093 posts in Jammu division and 897 in Kashmir division.
The district-wise vacancies include 59 posts in Anantnag, 20 in Bandipora, 75 in Baramulla, 47 in Budgam, 46 each in Doda and Ganderbal, 65 in Jammu, 50 in Kathua, 25 in Kishtwar, 23 in Kulgam and 24 in Kupwara. Srinagar has 53 posts, while Udhampur has 46.
The notification states that candidates applying for the posts must be domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir and possess a valid domicile certificate by the last date of submission of applications.
For Class-IV (MTS) posts, the required qualification is minimum matriculation and maximum 10+2, while candidates applying for Sanitation Worker posts must have passed at least Class 8 and should not have qualifications above 10+2. The pay scale for the posts is Level SL1, Rs 14,800-47,100.
The maximum age limit as on January 1, 2026 is 40 years for Open Merit candidates, 43 years for several reserved categories and 42 years for physically challenged persons. A five-year relaxation in the upper age limit is available to eligible candidates claiming additional weightage as casual workers under the applicable rules.
The application fee is Rs 600, while candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD categories will have to pay Rs 500. The fee is payable online through net banking, credit or debit cards.
Selection will be based on a written test and additional points as prescribed under the Jammu and Kashmir Appointment to Class IV (Special Recruitment) Rules, 2020. The examination will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions and will carry negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to each wrong answer.
The JKSSB said the date and examination centres will be notified separately on its official website.
