SRINAGAR: In a compassionate gesture following the devastating fire that ravaged Mohalla Gajnag in Kadipora on March 20, the Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundation (JKYF) on Monday distributed bedding worth Rs 60,000 among 40 families affected by the tragedy.
The fire incident, which destroyed the homes and belongings of 60 families, has left dozens in urgent need of shelter and essential items. In response, a team of JKYF volunteers led by the organisation’s Chairman, Mohammad Ahsan Rather, visited the area to personally deliver the relief materials. The distribution was carried out in the presence of members of the local masjid committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Rather expressed solidarity with the affected families. “Our hearts go out to the families who lost everything in this unfortunate incident. We stand with them in this difficult time and will continue to extend our support,” he said.
The Foundation has said it remains committed to providing relief and assistance to those in need and urged individuals and civil society groups to join hands in helping the affected. It added that further relief efforts are being planned to support all the affected families.
District representative Shafeeq Ahmad Khaki and Central Executive Committee member Javaid Ahmad Shah were also present during the distribution drive.
