Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora informed the House that no building permission has been granted for construction of commercial complex in Magarmal Bagh adding that as per Srinagar Master Plan 2000-2021 Magarmal Bagh area has been earmarked partly residential and partly public, semi-public along the main road.
Replying to a question by Mohammad Irfan Shah, the Minister said that all areas earmarked under residential plan use in Master Plan can be used for other building activities like hotel, boarding houses and nursery schools. He said accordingly, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation has issued permissions for one guest house, one hostel and an education centre in Magarmal Bagh area which are provided under Master Plan norms.
Showing concern on illegal construction of a hotel in the area, the Speaker Mubarak Gul directed concerned Minister to examine the matter and furnish factual report during this session.
