SRINAGAR: Various media associations, political leaders and organizations have expressed condolences on the passing away of Mudasir Ali, senior Editor Greater Kashmir newspaper,  who died of cardiac arrest on Friday.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has condoled the untimely demise of Greater Kashmir journalist Mudasir Ali.

In his message, the Lt Governor said,  “Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of young journalist Mudasir Ali. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and colleagues.”

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said, “the untimely death of Ali who was a promising journalist has deeply saddened him and the entire district administration. The Srinagar administration offers its sincere prayers for peace to the departed soul and its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.”

Government Spokesman Rohit Kansal in a tweet said, “Deeply saddened to hear of the unfortunate and distressing news of the untimely demise of young journalist Mudassir Ali. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”

Kashmir Press Club also expresses shock and grief over the sudden demise of senior journalist Mudasir Ali.

In a statement, KPC said the sudden demise of Mudasir, who worked for Greater Kashmir and also contributed to leading national and international media organisations, is indeed a great loss to the journalistic fraternity of Kashmir.

Mudasir was one of the finest and hardworking reporters who earned respect among his colleagues by his work. His death has left a void that would be difficult to fill. At this hour of grief, the Kashmir Press Club management and the journalist fraternity of Kashmir expresses its sympathies and solidarity with the bereaved family especially with the younger brother of Mudasir Ali journalist Jahangir Ali. May Allah grant the bereaved family the patience to bear this huge loss.

Founding Editor of The Wire Siddharth Varadarajan wrote on Twitter, “ Mudasir was an outstanding journalist who reported for  @thewire_in  from J&K from 2016. Diligent, resourceful and meticulous in his work, his death last night of a heart attack is a huge loss for everyone he touched in his short life. Rest in peace, Dear Mudasir, rest in peace.”

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah said, “It was a terrible shock to hear of the untimely death of Mudassir Ali. He had a bright career as a journalist ahead of him & the fact that he died so young makes his passing even more difficult to comprehend. May Allah grant him Jannat & his family strength at a difficult time.”

“I’ve been interviewed by Mudassir a number of times & tried to dodge his tough questions at numerous press conferences. He was a tenacious reporter, always polite but never easy to fob off. He will be sorely missed. God speed Mudassir,” Omar tweeted.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti said, “Saddened to know of Mudasir Ali’s sudden demise. Have known him for years & he was a great person. Still find it hard to believe. May Allah give strength to his family to bear this  loss.”

Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari also expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of noted journalist, Mudasir Ali.

In a condolence message issued here, Bukhari described Mudasir as a professional journalist who would never compromise on ethics of journalism.

“The deceased was decent and thorough gentleman who would always keep a sweet smile on his face. Though young but he was an astute journalist who would come up with mind-boggling investigative stuff in his new stories highlighting the shortcomings in our governance system,” Bukhari recalled.

Apni Party president expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, his relatives, friends and colleagues besides the management and editorial staff of Greater Kashmir where the deceased was working presently.

Bukhari also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, Apni Party senior vice president Ghulam Hassan Mir also condoled the demise and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

“Mudasir Ali would always be remembered for his contribution in the field of journalism. His demise is a huge loss not only to his family but the whole journalist community in Jammu and Kashmir,” Mir remarked.

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G A Mir also expressed profound grief over the passing away of noted Journalist Mudasir Ali and conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

JKPCC President G A Mir said the passing of Mudasir Ali came as a great shock to him (Mir), he has no words to express his grief.

JKPCC President expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Meanwhile, DCC President Budgam Zahid Hussain Jan expressed grief over the demise of Mudasir Ali and conveyed deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Expressing deep shock and grief over the tragic and sudden death of young journalist Mudasir Ali, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has termed the demise as an irreparable loss.

“Late Mudasir was a veteran journalist. The contribution made by him in the field of journalism will always be remembered. In his death, we have lost a great asset and the vacuum left by his passing away in the media fraternity would be difficult to fill,” said Tarigami in a statement.

Tarigami expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and media fraternity.

Former finance minister Haseeb Drabu wrote in Twitter, “Stunned and shocked to hear that Mudassir Ali, a brilliant young reporter @GreaterKashmir is no more. Always on the ball, looking for stories, passionate abt the power sector. Spoke to me last week. It is a personal loss, can’t even get myself to say RIP, Mudassir. Terrible times.”

Former minister Naeem Akhtar said, “Mudasir Ali’s death is a personal loss to me. He was not only brilliant at what he did but also kind, affable and soft-spoken. It will take us all a long time to come to terms with this. My deepest condolences to @Gaamuk and the family.”

SDSJK condoles the demise of Mudasir Ali Society of Dental Surgeons J&K (SDSJK) condoles the demise of noted, young and promising journalist Mudasir Ali.

Dr Imtyaz Banday (President SDSJK) while expressing immense shock & deepest condolences said that the deceased shall be remembered for his selfless service in the field of journalism. He was a very humble soul and professional to the core. His demise has left a huge void in the media fraternity.

In this moment of pain and agony, SDSJK stands with the bereaved family and prays to Almighty ALLAH to grant the highest level of heavens to the departed soul.

Dr Suhail Naik while expressing deep shock said, “Mudasir Ali was a senior journalist who upheld the ethics of journalism was presently working with an English daily, Greater Kashmir died of cardiac arrest which has left every one of us in shock”.

Dr Masood Rashid, Senior executive member, DAK said, “Mudasir Ali was a friend who always greets people with his smiling face and its unbelievable to hear that he is no more with us”.

Dr Rashid further said that “frequency of sudden death among young people has increased markedly amid ongoing pandemic, and a comprehensive research is very important to delineate whether these deaths are directly or indirectly related covid 19”.

DAK prays for the departed soul and his family to bear this irreparable loss.
