Senior National Conference leader from Karnah, Kafeel ul Rehman, who was appointed as Vice Chairman to the Pahari Advisory Board on Tuesday has declined to join office after being angry over non-inclusion into the Omar Abdullah Cabinet.

According to reliable sources close to the leader, Rehman is distraught with the party for being given a “raw deal”.

“He is not happy with the treatment meted out to him by the Chief Minister. Despite having won elections for the third term, members way junior to him have been inducted into the cabinet which has given rise to the resentment”, the sources added.

People in Karnah are angry over the party decision and have protested against the decision of the party not to give Rehman a cabinet berth, they added.

The NC leader is said to have taken up the matter with Party President, Dr Farooq Abdullah expressing his resentment.

“He spoke to Dr Farooq Abdullah and expressed his displeasure and mal treatment”, the sources said adding that he would decide future course of action within next few days. He is also believed to have conveyed the grievance of the people of Karnah that they have never been given representation in the state cabinet.
