The police constable who was suspended for allegedly killing 22-year-old Kangan youth Gowhar Ahmad Rather in the first week of April this year has reportedly been indicted by probe committee headed by ADC Ganderbal Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari.
Following the killing of Kangan youth Gowhar Ahmed Rather Jammu and Kashmir Police had arrested Selection Grade Constable Gulzar Ahmad (belt no. 422/Gbl) and placed him under suspension while Government had ordered a magisterial probe headed by ADC Ganderbal into the killing.
While talking to news agency CNS, the Inquiry Officer Shahnawaz Bukhari said that he submitted the report on May 19 before District Development Commissioner Ganderbal. “It is a 30-page report and in the light of 11 eyewitnesses that deposed before me, they all indicated the cop in question. I did my duty, now it is up to Government to take the future course of action,” Bukhari said.
Gowhar had sustained serious firearm head injuries and was taken to SKIMS Soura where he succumbed to injuries after 20-hours sparking violent protests in the town that subsequently resulted into the death of another youth. (CNS)
