The doctor treating Gowhar at SKIMS ICU, confirmed to Kashmir Life over the phone, “We just declared him dead. Gowhar is no more. We were trying hard to maintain his blood pressure but despite all attempts, we couldn’t save his life.”

Gowhar, son of Abdul Reham Rather, had suffered head injury after being chased during clashes between the locals and police in Kangan.

Locals alleged that Gowhar had suffered a bullet injury. Hospital sources said that Gowhar was first admitted to Kangan hospital and then referred to SKIMS, adding that the scan of slain youth shows metallic presence in the brain.

“It seems like whole pellet cartridge has been shot into his head. The pellet particles had gone deep into his brain,” said the doctor.
