Famed Kashmiri cricketer, Parvez Rasool is mulling a cricket academy in his home town Bijbehara in South Kashmir.

The cricketing training centre shall be named as The Parvez Rasool Cricket Academy and will be established in Model Higher Secondary School in Bijbehara.

Parvez Rasool is only international cricket player from Jammu and Kashmir and has also played is India’s famous IPL.

“Today the road map for establishing the state of the art Parvez Rasool Cricket Academy at Model Higher Secondary School Bijbehara Islamabad was finalised in collaboration with Kanwal Foods,” reports said.

Parvez Rasool along with government officials including Director School Education Kashmir, Dr Shah Faisal had visited the school ground on Saturday.

“Development of turf, wickets, pavilion, change room, gym centre, sports equipment and other utilities are some of the components that will be done by the Education Department in collaboration with Kanwal Foods Private Limited,” an official of the Education Department was quoted as having said.

The Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder will be guiding and grooming the selected cricketers at the academy.

PM Narendra Modi during his last visit to Jammu and Kashmir on November 07 praised “talented Parvez Rasool”. Addressing a jam packed SK Stadium here in which he announced the economic package, PM Modi had said, “Kashmir which has cricketers like Parvez Rasool should get international matches.”

Notably, the academy was announced by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed last month during his visit to the school in Bijbehara.
