A police cop was critically injured during an ongoing gun battle in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar on Monday.
The injured cop has been identified as PSO Javid Ahmed stationed at district headquarter Srinagar.
An official said that Javid Ahmed has sustained bullet injuries in Shoulder and has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment.
Earlier a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable identified as Mujahid Khan of 49 Battalion was also killed and another has received a bullet injury in his leg, in the ongoing firefight in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar on Monday.
“In the wee hours, a sentry of 23 battalions stationed at Karanagar noticed a suspicious movement. He challenged the suspects, two in number. They ran into the nearby building behind National School,” said a senior police official.
The official also added the militants have taken shelter in the senior wing of Caset higher secondary school. Meanwhile, the reports have started pouring in that stone pelting incidents have started in Fateh Kadal and other adjoining areas of Karan Nagar.
