SRINAGAR: Kashmiri boy Nasir Ali Mufti has topped the list of JTOs recruited by BSNL for JK Telecom Circle. The recruitment by BSNL was based on the GATE (Graduate Aptitude test for Engineers) 2017 examination, BSNL sources said.
Nasir has obtained a score of 852. The second candidate in the merit list is 72 points behind.
GATE is traditionally being conducted by the one of the main IITs for MTech admissions to IITs. This year IIT Roorkee, Dehradun conducted the examination. Though initially exclusively used for selecting the best engineers for advanced studies, this examination has come handy for various PSUs to make recruitments, albeit indirectly. They treat the GATE score as the merit for recruitment.
Many PSUs like BSNL, PGCIL, IOCL are using the GATE score of the applicants for their recruitment needs for better transparency and professional testing of the Engineering graduates.
BSNL J&K Circle has been allotted 50 DRJTOs (Direct Recruit Junior Telecom Officers) in OC category and another 26, 6 and 6 DRJTOs in OBC, SC and ST category, respectively.
