SRINAGAR: Parts of Kashmir are likely to experience a fresh spell of unstable weather, with rain and thunderstorms expected to continue till evening, according to meteorological forecasts.
Officials said gusty winds are likely to accompany rainfall at several locations, while isolated hailstorms cannot be ruled out in some areas.
The Nowcast issued at 1530 hours by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar stated that rain and thundershowers are expected at many places in North and Central Kashmir and at a few places in South Kashmir and Jammu division. It added that gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and hailstorms may occur at isolated locations, with improvement expected later in the evening.
Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions and remain cautious in vulnerable and high-altitude areas.
The advisory also urged residents to stay away from electric poles, old trees and weak structures, and to suspend boating and Shikara operations on water bodies until weather conditions improve.
