Gunfight rages in two separate villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.

Official sources said that two encounters started late last night at Dragad village of  Sugan and Kachdoora. Army’s 44 RR, 3 RR, 34 RR, SOG, and CRPF are part of the operation at both the places.

Two army men were injured and one militant was killed at Dragad Sugan while another army man was injured at Kachdoora. All of them have been evacuated to military hospital.

Police sources said that at least five militants believed to be trapped in Dragad  Sugan village of Shopian

However, militants have taken shelter in a house of an IPS officer of Sugan village currently posted outside.

Locals said there are two bodies in the compound of the house, though there was no official confirmation.

SSP Shopian Shriram Ambarkar said that nothing can be said except that encounters are going on at two places (Dragad village and Kachdoora village).
