SRINAGAR: Four militants, two each from Jash-e-Mohammad and Lashker-e-Taiba, were killed in three encounters in Pulwama, Ganderbal and Kupwara districts on Saturday, police said.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that one militant has been arrested alive.

He said that two JeM militants were killed in an overnight operation in Chewaklan area in Pulwama.

He added that one LeT militant each was killed in Serch Ganderbal and Nechama, Rajwar area of Handwara in Kupwara.

IGP said counter insurgent forces had launched joint operations at 4-5 locations last night.

 

The encounters started after counter insurgent forces received specific information about the presence of militants in the said districts.

“Encounters are over in Pulwama and Handwara while operation at Ganderbal is going on,” he said. “There is encounter (s) likely to place at other location(s) also,” the IGP tweeted.
