Another disturbing news is coming from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district where 300 people are said to be trapped in a village Khoimo from last three days.

One of the relatives of trapped family studying in Bangalore buzzed Kashmir Life and informed that people are battling for their lives in this village due to uncontrolled upsurge of nearby water body.

“On the banks of river Vaisho, two localities of Khoimo: Thokerpora and Tengpora are critical right now,” the caller who identified himself as Iqbal informed Kashmir Life. “Nearly 300 people residing in these localities are battling for their lives. No help is pouring for them.”

Iqbal says, the scene in these localities is akin to doomsday with children crying inconsolably and women relentlessly beating their chests due to panic triggered by overflowing water body. “Due to absence of boats, people have tied ropes between the trees to move towards safer areas,” he said.

The district administration when contacted said that due to ferocious pace and upsurge of river Vaisho, rescue measures in these localities have been badly marred: “But we are making every attempt to safeguard the people in Khoimo.”
