State Police Chief K Rajendera Kumar has said they are seeking army help wherever it is required.

“The police are busy in rescue operation and wherever needed Army is being called in. We have deputed NDRF teams to flood hit areas for rescue operations,” DGP told KNS “Police are trying its best to save lives and the property of in flood hit areas.”
“The South Kashmir is the worst hit and presently our main thrust is the worst hit areas,” Kumar said.

Asked about the deaths that have occurred due to floods, the DGP said: “So far 11 people have died in Kashmir Valley, while as 45 are dead in Jammu region including 8 from Reasi and 15 from Rajouri. The total number of deaths across the flood hit areas in the state may touch 90,” he informed.

Meanwhile highway connecting Srinagar with the rest of the world has been formally closed for the next three days. “A patch of extending around a kilometer has been washed away by the incessant rains on the highway near Ramsoo and its adjoining area. Landslides have triggered at least around 12 places. The men and machinery is on job to restore the highway,” IGP Traffic Muneer Ahmad Khan told KNS.
