Kashmir Flooded: Kitchloo urges Police to step up rescue efforts

SRINAGAR

Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo, who himself is monitoring the flood situation at Police Control Room, Srinagar for the last couple of days, has directed all ranks and file of police department to show more competence and step up efforts in the restoration work initiated by the Government to safeguard the life and property of the people.

He urged upon the police authorities to work in tandem with the civil administration, besides ensuring people-friendly attitude in the field to help the people at this juncture.

Kichloo also directed police departments to ensure strict prohibition of human movement near nallahs and river banks to prevent any mishap. Meanwhile, the Minister directed the concerned Deputy Commissioners and SSPs to ensure safety of life and property of the people in the affected areas.

The Minister also expressed his deep shock and sorrow over the loss of human lives in Thanna Mandi, Rajouri and other parts of the State and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
