Government of India has provided funds to the tune of Rs. 19.61 Crore under PM’s National Relief Fund to the government of J&K for replacement of text books damaged during floods of September 2014.

In a written reply to the joint question by PDP MP’s Mir Mohammad Fayaz and Nazir Ahmad Laway, Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Zubin Irani said that during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to flood affected regions of Jammu & Kashmir in October, 2014 demands given by the State Government included the replacement of damaged text books for the primary and upper primary children in the flood affected areas in the State.

“This proposal was supported by HRD Ministry and fund amounting to Rs 19.61 Crore was provided by the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund through National Disaster Management Authority to the State Government of Jammu & Kashmir, for replacement of text books,” she said.
