SRINAGAR: A human skull was recovered from the bank of the Jhelum River in the Takiyabal area of Sopore on Sunday, officials said.
An official said that locals noticed the skull lying on the riverbank and immediately alerted the police. Acting on the information, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), along with the Sopore Police, rushed to the spot and recovered the skull.
The officer said the remains have been taken into custody and sent for medico-legal examination to ascertain the identity of the deceased and other relevant details.
Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation. (KNO)
