SRINAGAR: A prominent Kashmir innovator has died after a brief illness. He was a national awardee.

He had innovated a Modified Iron Cutter for which he received State Award in National Award Function in 2012 at Rashtrapati Bhawan New Delhi.

Known locally as Ghash Lala, Abdul Rehman was well known in south Kashmir for his innovative bent of mind and was an inspiration for the Kashmir innovators of south Kashmir. On the whole, he was an asset for NIF Cell-JK. Presently the innovator was working on a Modified Snow cutter.

National Innovation Foundation (NIF) Cell-JK University of Kashmir has condoled the sad demise of the prominent innovator. Director NIF Dr Vipin Kumar was shocked to hear the sad news and conveyed his condolences to the family of the innovator. Chairman NIF Cell-JK, Prof G Mohiuddin Bhat expressed deep sorrow and regret over the sad demise of the prominent grassroots innovator. He said that Abdul Rahman was an inspiration for the Valley youth with regard to technology innovation.
