The message is clear from Kashmir that it is active conflict of the world. These are the words of the moderate Hurriyat Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who visited the Municipal Park Saturday to express his “solidarity with the Ehsaas-e-Kashmir.”
Much to the surprise of many in Municipal Park, Mirwaiz walked in, took stock of things and addressed media.
“I am here to express my solidarity with the cause for which this event is being organized,” he told newspersons. “The event gives a clear message that Kashmir is active conflict of the world.”
On Zubin Mehta’s remarks that “Kashmir chose him for the visit”, Mirwaiz said Mehta must have a “divine revelation” for feeling that way. “The fact of the matter is that his visit is the part of bigger design. Kashmir is the beautiful prison and how could you hold concert in a prison.”
The moderate separatist leader also questioned Zubin’s audience and said: “Who are these people who are going to be at this event? Did they ever talk about the ground realities in Kashmir?”
While appreciating the Haqeeqat event, Mirwaiz said it is very good initiative by civil society.
Later, Mirwaiz hold sit-in protest in “solidarity” with event.
