SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved an additional amount of Rs 14.85 crore for the purchase of 90 Mahindra Scorpio vehicles for Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
An order by the Transport Department reads that the funds are allocated under the “Purchase and Replacement of Vehicles” scheme for the financial year 2024-25. The procurement will be done through the Government e-Marketplace (GEM) portal via electronic tendering.
“The funds must be used solely for this purpose, and no driver posts will be created. Utilization certificates are to be submitted by March 31, 2025. The Finance Department had concurred with this decision on October 16, 2024,” it reads.
