SRINAGAR: Bilal Ahmed Shah, a junior lineman who was critically injured in an electrical accident at the Soura Receiving Station in Srinagar on January 11, succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura this afternoon.
The 55-year-old, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah and a resident of Ahmadnagar Buchpora, sustained severe injuries after receiving a high-voltage electric shock while performing his duties in the outdoor yard of the receiving station. Despite undergoing intensive medical treatment at SKIMS Soura for over ten days, including multiple surgeries, doctors were unable to save his life.
Shah’s death has plunged his family, colleagues, and the local community into grief. Tributes and condolences poured in, with many highlighting the dangers faced by electrical workers and calling for enhanced safety measures in workplaces prone to such risks.
An appeal for financial assistance had been issued earlier, as Shah’s condition necessitated amputations and complex surgeries, and his family was not financially equipped to bear the medical expenses. Contributions were sought from colleagues and the wider community to support his treatment.
The community has expressed its solidarity with Shah’s family during this difficult time, mourning the loss of a dedicated worker and a valued member of society.
