SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has written to External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, seeking facilitation for the repatriation of the mortal remains of a Kashmiri youth who passed away in Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, the Chairman of the Association, Mushtaq Habeeb, stated that Shakir Ahmad Wani, a resident of Mughalpora Pulwama, passed away due to cardiac arrest in Saudi Arabia. Wani, employed by Abdullah Albakar and Abdul Aziz Almetrek Company in Riyadh.

“The family needs assistance in bringing his mortal remains back,” reads the statement, urging the Ministry of External Affairs and the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to facilitate the repatriation.

Meanwhile, the National Spokesperson of the Association, Aadil Bhat, mentioned that the Association has taken up the matter with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for the early repatriation of the mortal remains to bring some solace to the bereaved family.

Expressing hope, he stated that they have been assured that the mortal remains will be brought back anytime in the next two days.
