SRINAGAR: Baramulla-born Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi has earned his maiden call-up to India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against the West Indies, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Wednesday.
The selection marks another significant step in Nabi’s rise from domestic cricket in Jammu and Kashmir to the national side. He has been included in India’s squad for the series, which begins in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27.
The 29-year-old fast bowler had previously attracted national attention with his domestic performances, including a remarkable four-wicket haul in four consecutive deliveries during the Duleep Trophy. He was subsequently signed by Delhi Capitals for Rs 8.40 crore at the 2026 IPL auction.
Nabi’s progression has also included selection in India A squads. The BCCI named him in the India A side for the multi-day matches in Sri Lanka in June this year.
For Jammu and Kashmir cricket, his latest selection provides another national-level breakthrough for a player from the region. Nabi has risen through the domestic system after establishing himself as a key performer for J&K.
India’s ODI side will be led by Shubman Gill, while Shreyas Iyer will captain the T20I team in the five-match series that follows the ODIs. The West Indies tour of India will begin with the ODI series on September 27, with the second and third matches scheduled for September 30 and October 3 respectively.
