Curfew-like restrictions were imposed in the downtown and areas falling under two police stations in the civil lines and old city since early Saturday morning.

Shops and business establishments were closed and traffic is off the road in civil lines and uptown Srinagar though few private vehicles, besides cabs and three-wheelers, could be seen plying on some routes.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprised of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown across Kashmir against the shifting of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi along with her two associates Fahmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen to Delhi by National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Andrabi and others were shifted from the Srinagar Central Jail in connection with a sedition FIR filed against them by the agency.

Geelani and Mirwaiz continue to remain under house arrest while Malik has been lodged at police station Kothi Bagh.
