The Kashmir valley on Saturday observed shutdown against the killing of Hurriyat leader Nadeem Yusuf on the call of Joint Resistance Leaders.

All the business establishments were observed shut, while thin movement of public and private transport was seen on the major roads in towns and the Srinagar city.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) had called for a shutdown in Kashmir on Saturday against the killing of Yousuf Nadeem and shifting of Kashmiri inmates from central jail Srinagar to other jails.

Muhammad Yousuf Rather alias Yousuf Nadeem was associated with Hurriyat (G). He was shot dead by gunmen while he was travelling home in a passenger vehicle in Beerwah area of Budgam.

JRL comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik who is admitted at SKIMS has strongly condemned the actions against Kashmiris by the forces, said the statement.

While strongly condemning the brutal killing of a Hurriyat activist and spokesperson of Tehreek I Wahdat Muhammad Yousuf Nadeem who fell to the bullets of some unknown persons at Beerwah recently, JRL said that Yousuf Nadeem was a passionate freedom lover and his killing in suspicious circumstances has raised many questions.

Meanwhile, the train service in Kashmir valley has also been suspended.
