Normal life remains paralyzed on Wednesday in view of a protest call given by “Mutahida Majlis Mashawrat” (MMM) for not handing over the body of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru, who was hanged and buried in Tihar Jail on February 9, 2013.

All schools, colleges, universities, shops and business establishments remained closed due to the strike call while public transport remained off the roads. However, some of the private vehicles could be seen plying on the roads in Srinagar and some other parts of the Valley.

As per the week long calendar by MMM, people were ‘guided’ to observe civil curfew throughout the state. MMM, was formed for the aim to chalk out a “joint strategy” against the Afzal Guru’s hanging issue and spearhead an agitation to press for the body of parliament attack convict.
