At least seven CRPF personnel and three civilians were injured in Bemina firing incident who have been shifted to hospital.  One civilian among the injured is critical.

However police sources say the exact detail of injured is not clear yet.

Police have started a search operation in the area and the whole area has been cordoned off says Abdul Gani Mir, officiating IGP.

On Wednesday morning unidentified gunmen appeared in Bemina area of the Srinagar near police public school and opened heavy firing on a deployment party. The militants also lobbed hand grenades on the CRPF party resulting in the death of five CRPF personnel and two militants.

But another police officer said that six to seven CRPF personnel were injured in the attack which was carried out on an open field where 25 officers were on duty, outside CRPF residential quarters.

The CRPF stationed in the nearby camp surrounded the militants resulting in an encounter. The police spokesman said that the encounter ended on the death of two militants and five CRPF men.

So far, no militant outfit has taken the responsibility of the attack.
