Kashmir shuts on Molvi Farooq, Gani Lone’s death anniversaries

In response to the call “Eidgah Chalo” march by Joint Resistance Leadership, a shutdown is being observed in the Kashmir valley to mark the death anniversaries of late Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone.

All shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained closed while as public transport is mostly off the roads.

Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq was killed on May 21, 1990, while Lone was killed on May 21, 2002, by unknown gunmen.

Authorities have imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar city to prevent a march called by resistance leaders to Eidgah ground Srinagar to commemorate the death anniversaries of late Mirwaiz and Lone.

Heavy contingents of police forces have been deployed in the area and all exams for the day have been postponed.
