A complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir on Monday following the Joint Resistance Leadership shutdown call against the killing of a civilian and four militants in South Kashmir.

All the shops, business establishments, and educational institutions across Kashmir are closed. The traffic is off the roads in civil lines and uptown Srinagar though few private vehicles, besides cabs and three-wheelers, could be seen plying on some routes.

The shutdown call was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprised of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik across Kashmir against the killing of a civilian and four militants in Chowgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A train service across Kashmir has also been suspended on both Srinagar to Baramulla and Srinagar toBanihal track for the “precautionary measures”.

A shutdown is also being observed in Banihal town of Ramban district. Reports said that all shops and other commercial establishments in the town are closed and public traffic is also off the roads.
