Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh has said that the situation in Kashmir is well under control and better than earlier.

Army’s Srinagar based defence spokesman in a statement issued to GNS said that the Minister of State for defence arrived at Srinagar on 23 June and visited Chinar Corps Headquarters on 24 Jun where he was given a detailed briefing on the security situation prevailing in the Valley.

“On 25 June, the Minister paid a special visit to the Chinar Corps War Memorial.   A solemn ceremony was organized wherein the minister paid rich tributes to the martyrs who have laid their lives defending the Nation”, the statement said, adding that “Senior Army officers posted in the Badami Bagh Cantonment were present during the ceremony”.

The visit of the minister assumes importance as it comes close to the recent visit of defence Minister to the Valley, the statement said.

“When asked regarding the prevailing security situation in Valley, Inderjit Singh conveyed that the situation is well under control and better than earlier. Commending the Security Forces, the  Minister said that the present situation is due to the efforts and restraint shown by the Security Forces who have ensured that the situation does not out of bounds”, the statement added.
