SRINAGAR: A student from Kashmir, pursuing BTech at a private institute in Khanna Punjab was found dead in his hostel room under mysterious circumstances on Thursday, Hindustan Times reported.

The student, originally from north Kashmir’s Baramulla, was in the second year of his BTech programme at Gulzar Group of Institutes in Libra village, Khanna.

According to fellow students, he was unwell and did not wake up on Thursday morning, prompting his roommates to raise an alarm, causing concern in the hostel.

He was shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Quoting Inspector Davinderpal Singh, SHO at Sadar Khanna police station, Hindustan Times reported that after having dinner on Wednesday night around 9.30 pm, the student went to his room, informing his roommates about his unwell condition. On Thursday, when he did not wake up for breakfast, his roommates raised an alarm.

Meanwhile, ASI Harwinder Singh, who is investigating the case, said that the family members have taken the body of the deceased along with them while informing the police that they do not want any investigation in the matter.
