Director Agriculture Kashmir Syed Altaf Ajaz on Monday said the Department of Agriculture will promote “Agri-tourism” in the valley in a big way.
The spokesman quoted the Director saying “the meeting is being held to discuss the status and progress made on various provisions and modalities of the Agri-tourism project and to explore the possibilities of popularizing rural and Agri-tourism in Kashmir and Ladakh Division.”
Director Agriculture said the department is mandated with the promotion of Agri-tourism in the state and it is working towards promoting it on the grass-root level.
He said farmers should take up Agri-Tourism along with farming to increase their Income. He said the training programmes would be held for farmers to help them understand the concept better.
The Director added Agri-tourism will help tourists understand the kind of crops that are grown in Kashmir Division and it would provide an opportunity for cultural exchange between tourists and farmers. (PTK)
