Kashmir Trade Body’s New Advisory Committee Takes Charge, 26 Industrial Estate and District Presidents Inducted

   

SRINAGAR: The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) has officially inducted 26 democratically elected presidents from various industrial estates and districts of the unorganised sector into its newly formed Advisory Committee. The announcement was made on Tuesday, following a resolution adopted at the FCIK’s Extraordinary General Body Meeting held on May 4, 2025.

The newly constituted Advisory Committee will serve as the apex interim decision-making body of the federation until fresh elections are held. It has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the federation’s functioning and ensuring continuity. Additionally, the committee has the authority to establish an independent Election Commission that will conduct fresh elections within two months. These elections will be conducted in strict accordance with the FCIK Constitution and under the supervision of both internal bodies and external, including government, observers.

The committee comprises representatives from across the industrial estates and district-level unorganised sectors, ensuring broad-based participation. In their individual ‘Statements of Acceptance and Undertaking,’ the newly inducted members expressed gratitude to the General Body for its confidence and pledged to safeguard the values, constitution, assets, and financial resources of the federation.

The inducted Advisory Committee members include: Syed Fazal Illahi (Baghi Ali Mardan Khan), Imran Murtaza (Khunmoh), Mohammad Ashraf Khan (Baramullah), Javid Ahmad Bhat (Sopore), Shiekh Nisar Ahmad (IGC Lassipora), Iftikhar Hussain Misgar (Anantnag), Afaq Qadiri (SP Zakura), Farooq Ahmad Anshari (Zainakote), Ghulam Nabi Shah (Handwara), Mehraj–ud-Din (Kupwara), Farooq Ahmad (Rudbug Kupwara), Mohsin Iqbal (Vessu), Muzaffar Ahmad (Bijbehara), Abdul Raheem Sofi (Chatpora Pulwama), Aweem Irshad (Aglar Shopian), Mohammad Muzaffar (Gagran Shopian), Nazir Ahmad Salroo (Sports Complex Bijbehara), Firdous Ahmad Khan (Cricket Bat Cluster Sethar), Adnan Masood (Wuyan), Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (Doabgah), Bashir Ahmad Naik (CA Store Cluster), Ghulam Mohammad Tramboo (District Anantnag), Nazir Ahmad Mir (District Pulwama), Mohammad Imran Najar (District Baramullah), Parvaiz Ahmad Naik (District Kulgam), and Dr. Nazir Ahmad (District Kupwara).

According to an FCIK statement, several additional members from other estates and districts are expected to join the committee in the coming days.

“The Advisory Committee will convene in the coming days to outline its strategic roadmap and initiate the process of appointing a new Election Commission as mandated,” the statement added.
