Banihal train services were suspended on second consecutive day today due to the repairing of damaged infrastructure and to restore railway track between Srinagar and Banihal in Kashmir.

An official from the railway department Srinagar said that engineers are working to restore the damaged lines and other infrastructures between Srinagar and Islamabad and they are hopeful of restarting the service at the earliest.

He said that the work has been started both on the train as well as in track which was damaged at dozens of places between Srinagar to Banihal, led to the suspension of the service.

“It is premature to say the exact date to resume; it will be decided today evening whether to resume the service on tomorrow or not,” the official added.
